Mary Groller Obituary
Mary E. Groller (nee Modelski) passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home. She was the beloved wife of the late Edwin F. Groller and the devoted mother of Wayne (Lynn) Groller, Joseph (Debbie) Groller, Karen (Brian) Johnson, and the late Therese (Patrick Sr.) Woulfe. Mary was a cherished grandmother to Patrick Jr. (Laura) Woulfe, Amanda (Imed) Rebhi, Ryan (Connie) Woulfe, Joseph Johnson, Jason (Brianna) Groller, Brandon Woulfe, and Michelle Groller. She was a proud great-grandmother to Lucas Groller, Brayden and Kylie Johnson, Avalina, Eleanora, and the late Liliana Rebhi, Teagan, Evelyn, Patrick III, and Dechlan Woulfe, and Connor, Avery, and Riley Woulfe. Mary was the loving sister of the late Beatrice (the late Tony) Trzeciak, the late Helen (the late Harry) Olivares, and the late Frank (Kathy) Modelski. She will be deeply missed by her extended family and many dear friends.
A talented cook, Mary found joy in cooking and baking - her homemade cookies were a renowned favorite that she donated by the thousands to family, friends, and those in need. An avid crocheter in her younger years, Mary created countless beautiful afghans, winter clothing, and baby items that she generously donated to her church. As an active and dedicated parishioner of St. Linus Catholic Church, Mary volunteered with Way Off Broadway and frequently purchased food for the needy, ensuring that others never went without a meal. She was a passionate Chicago sports fan and never missed a game, living to see all her teams win their respective championships. Above all, Mary was the loving and beloved matriarch of her family, who poured herself into her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
A celebration of Mary's life will be held on Thursday, February 20, 2025 starting with a visitation from 8:30 am – 9:45 am at Modell Funeral Home, 7710 S. Cass Ave., Darien. Following visitation, we will process to St. Linus Church, 10300 Lawler Ave., Oak Lawn for an 11:00 am Mass. A procession to St. Mary Cemetery for burial services will immediately follow Mass. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lewy Body Dementia Association in her memory.
