Mary Sue (Smith) Halcomb, age 98, of Monticello, KY, went home to be with her heavenly Father on September 6th, 2024. She died peacefully at her home.
She was born August 14, 1926 in Kingston, TN. She was the daughter of Floyd and Ruth Smith. She was one of three children born into this union.
She married Ross Halcomb on December 22, 1945, and to this union four children were born: one daughter, Barbra Fisher (Tony), and three sons, Neal (Joy), Bruce (Holly), and Richard (Gwen) Halcomb. Also 10 grandchildren, Angela Kerr, Diana and Mark Fisher, Melissa, Derrick, Jeremy, Jason, Chris, Carolyn Pratt, and Danny Halcomb. She had 19 great grandchildren, Alex, Sam, Abby, Penny, Mary Sue, Ben, Grace, Ross, Jake, Levi, Lacie, Wyatt, Ariah, Kayla, Nathan, Eva, Grant, Brooklyn, and Harper.
She is also survived by her younger sister, Irene; she was preceded in death by her brother, Bill.
She was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church and accepted her Lord and Savior at the age of 10 years old. Mary was a woman of faith; who loved life and just being around her would lift up your spirits. She had a great sense of humor and kept everyone laughing and smiling.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, between 1 pm – 2 pm in the chapel of the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at 2 pm at the Hickey Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Oak Grove Baptist Cemetery.
The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to: Hospice of Lake Cumberland or Oak Grove Baptist Church.
