It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Lou Cottrell Hall, 100, of Quinlan, TX on April 21, 2025.

She was born October 15,1924 to James C. Cottrell and Annie Louise Smith and the second child of their ten children in Quinlan, Texas.

After high school, she moved to Greenville and married James Belton Hall, and they had two children. Soon after Mary Lou started a successful career at Southwestern Bell Telephone and worked many positions including Central Office Line Specialist and retired after 37 years.

She had many hobbies and interests which included cooking, gardening, canning, travel, crochet, card playing and watching the Texas Rangers Baseball team. She was active in her church and had many friends and was very family oriented. Her memory had exceptional recall of birthdays, phone numbers and the family history which was extensive.

Recently the City of Quinlan, TX held a parade in honor of her 100th birthday. A day that was celebrated with many family members and friends.

She is survived by her sister Jewel Campbell, daughter Judy Bethard-Crouch, grandsons Doug and Wendy Shepard, Mark Hall, Ashley Hall, nieces Caraylon Sherman, Claudia Couch, Caryn Green, Terri Colvin, Rebecca Moffitt, Elizabeth Hall, Kim Dunnagan, Debra Bracey, and nephews Allen Hall, Shannon Coates, Lee and Angela McClintock, Peppi Hall, Joey Hall, and Chris Monk.

Mary Lou was preceded in death by her sons James Hall Jr., Marion Ray Hall, eight of her siblings, her parents James Cottrell and Annie Smith, and many friends and relatives around the country.

We will continue to carry Mary Lou in our hearts and find comfort that she rejoins her parents, sons, and departed brothers, sisters and beloved pets in heaven.
