Mary Lena Hamilton, 88, of Phenix City, AL passed away Saturday evening on February 10, 2024, at Piedmont Northside Hospital in Columbus, GA with her family by her side.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am EST Friday, February 16, 2024, at Vance Brooks Funeral Home in Phenix City with Rev. Donald Edwards officiating. A special place of rest for her burial will be held by her loving family. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 5:00 to 8:00 pm EST at the funeral home in Phenix City.
Mrs. Hamilton was born December 18, 1935, in Pike County, AL. She was the daughter of Annie Ruth Stuart Roberts and Fate Roberts. She had worked in various medical facilities as a medical assistant and retired after serving many faithful and loyal years. She loved traveling and enjoyed the adventures and opportunities along the way. She enjoyed humor, her little nicknames, and was always full of surprises. She loved sharing memories and special moments will all her family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was Baptist and Christian by faith and had attended Philadelphia Baptist Church in Smiths Station.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie G. Hamilton and a son-in-law, Edward Allen O’Steen.
She is survived by her daughters, Lisa Hamilton O’Steen, and Julie Hamilton Jennings and her husband Bobby; sister, Emmie Botts and husband Mervin; brother, Jerry Roberts and wife Shirley; six grandchildren, Jamie O’Steen Buckner, Allen O’Steen, Jr. and wife Kristy, Andrew Blake O’Steen, Leslie N. Willett and husband Daniel, Beth Jennings Owen and husband Allen, and Brian Jennings and wife Lori; ten great-grandchildren, Alanna Andrews, Cullen O’Steen, Camden O’Steen, Madison Willett, Gracie Willett, Ella Willett, Allen Owen ‘V’, Andrew Owen, Gavin Jennings, and Hudson Jennings; several nieces, nephews, cousins, other extended family members, and many friends.
