It is with great sadness that we announce Mary Anne Haworth, 83, of Rolla, Missouri, formerly of Galesburg, Illinois, died Monday, June 16, 2025, at 11:11 a.m. at Phelps Health Care, Rolla, Missouri. She had struggled with numerous infections for several months before her passing.

Mary Anne was born August 25, 1941 in Albany, New York, the daughter of William F. and Mary E. (Bornhorst) Dillon. After high school, Mary Anne and George Jeffrey Haworth were married in Albany, New York on April 4, 1964. Their 52-year marriage brought five children. Mary Anne told one of her children that her biggest life dream was to someday have a family and be a mom. Her success is evident as Mary Anne is survived by two sons, James (Rebekah) Haworth of Wheaton, Illinois and Wayne (Molly) Haworth of Batavia, Illinois; three daughters, Jennifer (Jose) Aguilarleon of Rolla, Missouri, Susan (Tony) Harrington of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Melissa (Shawn) McKim of Bettendorf, Iowa; twenty grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She is also survived by two brothers, William Dillon of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina and Donald Dillon of Richmond, Virginia, and multiple nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband on April 26, 2016, and parents.

After graduating high school, Mary Anne attended Albany Medical Center School of Nursing and became a registered nurse in 1962. She worked in hospitals in Albany, New York, Hendersonville, North Carolina, Louisville, Kentucky, and finished her career working at OSF Saint Mary’s Medical Center in Galesburg, Illinois. She was dedicated to nursing for 54 years, retiring at 75 years old. While working in Illinois, she graduated with a BS in Nursing from the University of Illinois. After her retirement, Mary Anne moved to Rolla, Missouri, to be closer to one of her children as she grew in age.

The great love Mary Anne had for her family was shown by her continual heart to serve them and her ability to quietly provide guidance for her family. She was a devoted member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, and a member of Ladies of Mary including 6 years as president. She sent her kids to Catholic school and lived and taught a moral life emulating Jesus the best she could. That left a lasting impression not only on her children, but also on everyone who knew her. She was known for her warm, funny, and giving personality – and her love for candy. She will be greatly missed by each and every one of us. We will forever be inspired by her work ethic and, most importantly, the love that she so gave us all.

Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 28, 2025 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 2401 N. Broad St., Galesburg, Illinois 61401. Funeral mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. Father Jeffrey Stirniman will officiate. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, Galesburg. Arrangements have been entrusted to Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg. Memorial contributions may be made to Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish and The Leukemia And Lymphoma Society in honor of her son-in-law, Shawn McKim.
