Mary Hlavac Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by W.C. Brady’s Sons, Inc Funeral Home on Sep. 2, 2024.
Mary T. Hlavac
September 1, 1941 – August 31, 2024
Mary "Mae" Hlavac passed away at her home in New Baltimore, N.Y. on Friday August 31, 2024, at the age of 83.
Mae is predeceased by her husband, Mike Hlavac, brothers Danny and Carl Busch, and parents Charlie and Mae "Mary" Busch.
Mae was the wife of a retired New York City Police officer and United States Army veteran, and a self-described domestic engineer.
Mae was the matriarch of a large family of brothers and sisters, children, nieces and nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren, as well as generations of cousins and unrelated people – many of whom addressed her as Mabel (a decades long running joke) – who longed to be regarded as part of the family. Mae loved to surround herself with those people, but always on her terms! She was the sun and everyone else was a mere planet orbiting around her in her universe.
Mae was a woman who knew what she wanted and when she wanted it, loved cards and board games, and was unapologetic when opining about anything and everything. She never candy-coated her communications and was far from a shrinking violet, but in the end was really a sheep in wolf's clothing. She deeply loved everyone in her life.
Mae is survived by her brothers Ernest and John, and sisters Patricia and Jean, her sons Mike Jr., and his wife Mary, Danny and his wife Barbara, Bill and his wife Melissa, and Jimmy, and daughter Kellie Loscher and her husband Andy. She is also survived by grandchildren Michael, Steven, Jennifer, Brian, DJ, Brandon, Brooke, Pascale and Ellery, and great grandchildren Mikey, Theo and Lylah. She also leaves behind her honorary daughter and niece, Margie Langan, who she was a second mother to for many years.
Visitation will be at The W.C.Brady's Sons, Inc. Funeral Home, 97 Mansion Street, Coxsackie, New York, 12051, on Thursday, September 5, 2022, from 5:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M.
Mass will be celebrated on Friday, September 6, 2024, at Saint Mary's R. C. Church, 80 Mansion Street, Coxsackie, New York, 12051, at 10:00 A.M. followed by a funeral service at Saint Mary's cemetery in Coxsackie, NY
