Mary Lee Holden Key, age 85, of Gatesville, passed away on April 16, 2025. Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm on Monday, April 21 at Scott’s Funeral Home with Pastor Wray Nunn officiating. Interment will follow at Gatesville City Cemetery. The family will receive visitors at Scott’s Funeral Home on Saturday, April 19 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
Mary was born on March 5, 1940, in Gatesville, Texas to the late Roy Milburn and Wanda Lee Gray Holden. Mary was raised in Gatesville where she attended school. Mary married Tommy Key on June 5, 1956, and they raised a large family. Mary spent many years taking care of others as a certified nursing assistant, working at the Rotunda and Coryell Memorial Home Health. Mary loved flowers and loved to garden. Mary was very close to her eight children and her grandchildren and had a special love for her dog, Maggie.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Tommy Key; sons, Tommy Dean Key and Jerry Lynn Key; daughter, Mary Jo Key; grandchildren, Richard Key, Mary Janice Key, and Kimberly Ann Key; and second husband, Walter Gaskamp.
She is survived by her children, Roy Richard Key, Jimmy Key and wife, Diana, Kay Nabors and Joe, Michial Key, David Key and wife, Cindy, Timmy Key and Jennifer, and Tammy Key and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
