On Saturday, November 22nd, 2025, Mary Loris Humke passed away at the St. Marys Hospital Campus, surrounded by her family.

Mary was born on March 1st, 1929 in Taylor County, Wisconsin, in the town of Redville, to Wilbur A. and Velma H. Stewart (nee Looker). She grew up living above her family's general store, an experience that left an indelible impression on her. Many times, throughout her life, she would share memories of that influence as it applied to current events.

Upon Mary's completion of college, having attended Stevens Point, UW Eau Claire and finishing at UW Lacross, obtaining her Bachelors Degree in Education, she taught at Greenwood Elementary School in Greenwood, Wisconsin.

Mary was united in marriage to the love of her life, Everett D. Humke, on August 5th, 1949 in a double ceremony with her sister and brother-in-law, a marriage that lasted 65 years.

Mary is survived by her daughters, Shelly Glover (Jon), Christie Paulson (Rick), grandchildren, Grace (Oliver) Books and Eli Glover as well as step-granddaughters, Alana (Matthew) Moran and Brenna Paulson. Mary was also step-great-grandmother to Ryan, Nicholas and Benjamin Moran and Nora Paulson.

Mary remained an enthusiastic advocate of education throughout her entire life. Both she and Everett were involved in many community continued education programs well into their retirement.

A service and interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be directed to Channel One Food Bank or Christ United Methodist Church.

Earlier today

Aunt Mary set a very fine example for us all to follow. She was so kind, loving, caring, and so much fun to be around due to her great sense of humor. She also knew what was right and stood up for her beliefs. She lived her values. We all miss her dearly. Nephew Jeff
