She was born on November 2, 1940, in Neon, KY, to parents Can Holbrook and Mary Pauline Gilly.
Mary graduated from high school and attended Knoxville Business College, where she pursued her interest in business administration. Throughout her life, Mary remained a dedicated and active member at Calvary Baptist Tabernacle, where she found spiritual inspiration and developed lasting relationships with her church family.
She was preceded in death by her Parents, Mary Pauline and Can Holbrook; her Brothers, James Franklin Holbrook and Jerry Lee Holbrook; and her Husband, Herbert Ray Humphrey.
She is survived by her Daughters, Debbie Lynne and Melinda Louise Humphrey; her Son, Donnie Ray Humphrey (Hope); her Grandchildren, Davey Humphrey (Lizz), Shae Honaker (Jared), Landyn, Gabe, and Bodie Humphrey; and her great-grandchildren, Kendall and Gavin Honaker.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Irene Smith, as well as all the family members and friends who were always there to support and care for Mary. Your kindness, presence, and unwavering support made a meaningful difference in her life and will be forever remembered.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM on Sunday, October 5, 2025, at Calvary Baptist Tabernacle (6922 Seaver Dr NW, Knoxville, TN 37909). A funeral service will follow, starting at 5:00 PM with Pastor James Allen Johnson officiating. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, October 6, 2025, at Lynnhurst Cemetery (2300 West Adair Drive, Knoxville, TN 37918).
