Mary Patricia "Pat" Ivory

Mary Patricia Ivory, affectionately known as Pat, of Troy, Michigan, passed away on September 1, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. She was the loving wife of more than 30 years to Brian Russell, a devoted mother, Nana, sister, aunt, and friend.

Pat was the proud mother of Dawn Patrice VanNorman and John Curtis (Jennifer) VanNorman. She was a loving stepmother to Brandon (Max) Russell. Her greatest joy was being a Nana, and she cherished every moment spent with Brennen Bochenek, Brett Bochenek, Graci VanNorman, Max VanNorman, and Carolyn James Russell. She also leaves behind her beloved cat, Betsy, who was always by her side.

She is survived by her sisters, Helen Ivory of Royal Oak and Janet (Frank) May of East Nassau, NY, nieces Tracy (Shawn) Wujack, Julie (Zack) Rogalski, Bettina (Jason) Davis/DiDomenico, Jill (Shaun) Wallace, and Julie Johnston. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Helen (Hannifan) Ivory, and by her former husband and very good friend, Ralph VanNorman.

Pat shared a lifelong bond of over 70 years with her best friend, Susan Freund of Florida, whose friendship was a constant source of joy and comfort.

She will also be deeply missed by her coworkers and friends at Giamarco, Mullins & Horton, P.C. in Troy, where she continued to work with dedication and pride.

In her earlier years, Pat loved doing crafts with her grandchildren. She had a bold personality - fashion forward, witty, wise, and smart as they come. She also enjoyed tending to her garden of flowers, following her favorite soap opera, watchin golf, and cheering on the Detroit Tigers. Her love for the City of Detroit was undeniable, and her Irish heritage was a source of immense pride - she bled green, and St. Patrick's Day was truly her day.

Pat loved nothing more than being present for her grandchildren - whether it was at football games, cheerleading, school plays, or any event that celebrated their lives. She lived for those moments and created countless memories of unwavering support and love.

A Celebration of Life will be held as an open house on Sunday, September 7, from 1:00 - 4:00p.m. at the home of John VanNorman, 320 Beverly Ave., Auburn Hills, MI 48326. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Pat's name to the Michigan Humane Society.

Pats' life was defined by her warmth, her devotion to family, and her ability to make everyone around her feel loved and valued. She will remembered always and missed dearly.
