Mary Johansen, age 88, of Weymouth passed away on December 23, 2024. Mary was raised and educated in London, England and then came to the United States in 1967. Mary also married her husband, Richard, in 1967 who she met back home in London.
Mary worked as a caregiver at Colonial Nursing Home for many years and also Toll House in Whitman. She was a very talented cook, seamstress, and hairdresser... truly a hard working matriarch who led her family with pride. She was also very dedicated to the community, opening her home to foster children for many years, and her and her husband opened the first BMX track at the Weymouth Fairgrounds.
Mary was predeceased by her husband Rachard Johansen, her daughter Katie Johansen, and her sister Josephine Keller. She is survived by Kim Sullivan of Weymouth, Nick Rodwell of Weymouth, Joe Johansen and his wife Sheila of Whitman, Paul Johansen and his wife Mary of NH, Brian Johansen and his wife Courtnee of CA, her grandchildren Michelle, Robin, Kevin, Benjamin, and Callum, her great-grandchildren Jason, Jayden, Aybree, Niklaus, and Milah, and her siblings Stella McCarthy, Dennis Murphy, John Murphy, Veronica Stritter, Pam Bickley, and Kathy Denney.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to the visitation for Mary on Saturday, January 4, 2025 from 11am-2pm in the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home located at 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) Weymouth, MA. A Funeral Mass will take place on June 21, 2025 at 10:30am in the Immaculate Conception Church on Broad St. in E. Weymouth when the family can all be in town for the Mass.
