Mary C. Johnson

Mary Carleen Johnson, 73, of Lexington, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on November 27, 2025 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was surrounded by the love of her family. Born to Virginia Garland Stafford and Paul Garland, both deceased, Mary grew up in a close-Knit family. She is preceded in death by her mother, father and two brothers, Timothy Garland and John Garland. She is survived by her brother, Joseph Garland as well as her beloved children: Heather Johnson, Anthony Johnson and Paul Johnson. Mary also leaves behind many cherished grandchildren and two great-grandchildren that she heartbreakingly never had the chance to meet.
Mary devoted her life to her children. She was a stern mother at times, but her strength always came from a deep, unwavering love. She brought joy into every celebration, especially Halloween, her favorite holiday. She loved hosting parties, decorating the house, and creating memories that her family will carry forever. In her free time, Mary enjoyed playing Bingo with her cousins, dancing to her favorite music and surrounding herself with moments of laughter and warmth.
Mary's presence was a gift-vibrant, loyal and full of spirit. Her love will continue to echo through the family she adored.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 9, 2025 at Fender Funeral Directors at 1593 Russell Cave Road, Lexington, Kentucky. Visitation will be from 10:00 am to Noon, with the services beginning at Noon. A graveside ceremony will follow at Athens Cemetery.
