Mary Johnson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Crestview Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home on Feb. 19, 2026.
Mary John Johnson, 91, of Jasper, Alabama, passed peacefully on February 18, 2026, surrounded by her family.

Born on November 27, 1934 in Blue Springs, MS. She moved to Adamsville, AL in her elementary years. Mary John lived a life rooted in faith, family, and service. She worked at Consolidated Pipe & Supply Co before she retired with Sharpe to Smith Lake, a place they cherished. A devoted member of Mount Vernon Baptist Church, her faith guided her life and the way she loved others.

Mary John found joy in reading, shopping, cooking, and serving those around her. She was happiest when caring for her family, and her home was always a place of warmth and welcome. Summers were filled with grandkids, wet floors and her home cooked meals.

She is survived by her children: Craig Hyde (Mary Ann), Mark Hyde (Eedie), Jeff Hyde (Lisa), and Joy Hand (George); 11 grandchildren: Jana Watts, Jillian Everette, Jackson Hyde, Gabe Hyde, Lauren Wiggins, Katie Hyde, Jake Hyde, Leah Perry, Sam Hand, Anna John Hand, and Gracie Edwards; 16 great-grandchildren; and her brother, William D. Davis (Iris) and her nieces and nephew, Karen Erwin, Kriste Henderson, and Dale Davis.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Sharpe W. Johnson; her grandchild, Leslie Hyde; and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Davis.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers who lovingly cared for Mary John over the past several years, and to the Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo, MS.

Visitation will be held Monday, February 23, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. -2:00 p.m. at Crestview Memorial Funeral Home in Adamsville, AL followed by a funeral service at 2:00 p.m. and a graveside service.
