Ms. Mary E. Jones, of Richmond, departed this life to be with her Heavenly Father, Thursday, April, 10th, at the Lakeside Health and Rehabilitation Center, Henrico.
Mary was born and raised in Amelia County, Virginia, to the late George W. and Christina Jones. Mary attended Mt. Level Baptist Church, where the family worshipped. She accepted Christ at an early age. Mary also attended Ammon Elementary School until the family moved to New York City. A few short years later the family moved back to Dinwiddie, Virginia. Mary later attended and graduated Dinwiddie High School.
As the years went by Mary worked for Central State Hospital for years and later retired from there.
As her mother and father's lives declined, Mary dedicated herself for many years to taking care of them until they passed.
As the years went by Mary moved to Petersburg, Virginia where she became active at Third Baptist Church, where she was dearly loved.
In addition to her parents; she was also preceded in death by: a daughter, Chandra E. Clarke; four brothers, John E. Jones. Ruffin R Jones, Roy Jones, and George W Jones Jr.
Mary is survived by: her son, Christopher D. Jones Sr.; her older sister, Sadie Nelson of Germantown, Maryland and one brother, Roger L. Jones of Petersburg; grandchildren, Christopher D. Jones Jr., Eliza Jones, Darrius D. Jones, Varian X Jones and Antonio E. Clarke Jr. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and a host of cousins, family and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11am, Monday, April 21, 2025 at the Third Baptist Church, 550 Farmer Street, Petersburg, Rev. Kassandra Bullock, Pastor. Public visiation will be held from 10am-6pm, Saturday, April 19th at the Petersburg Chapel of Bland Funeral Homes, 137 Harrison Street, Petersburg.
