Mary Lou Kingsbury, age 87, passed away peacefully on November 25, 2025, at Courtyard Manor of Swartz Creek. In accordance with her wishes cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be announced. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in Yerian Cemetery.
Born on April 19, 1938, in Owosso, Michigan, to Leo and Maxine (Britten) Smith, Mary Lou was a cherished sister to Sherry, Ruth, and James.
Mary Lou's journey began in the warmth of a close-knit family, and her early years in Owosso were filled with the joys of rural life. She attended Owosso Public Schools, where she laid the groundwork for a life of service and community involvement. On July 31, 1954, Mary Lou exchanged vows with Vern Kingsbury in a ceremony that marked the beginning of a loving partnership that lasted 56 years, until Vern's passing in 2010. Together, they built a home in Lennon, Michigan, where they welcomed and raised three wonderful daughters: Judy, Deborah, and Susan.
Mary Lou was a woman of many talents. She worked tirelessly on the farm with Vern, and her love for her family shone brightly as she raised their daughters with care and grace. Her dedication to her community was evident in her fourteen years of service as the township clerk, a role in which she served with integrity and commitment.
Her creative spirit found many outlets. Mary Lou's love for music was profound; she not only learned to play the guitar but also shared her gift of song by singing in a country band and singing in her church choir. She demonstrated an additional skill through her involvement in a sewing club and her leadership as a 4-H Leader, where she guided many young minds in the pursuit of knowledge and skills.
Mary Lou's life was anchored by her deep faith. She attended the Methodist Church in both Lennon and Duffield, where she found peace and comfort. Her faith was a source of strength and an inspiration to all who knew her.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and family, including her daughters Judy Wilson, Deborah (Juan) Zuniga, and Susan Klim; her cherished grandchildren Juan Zuniga, Matthew Zuniga, April (Clay) Lehman, Dustin (Jessica) Wilson, David Wilson, Jona Wilson, and Michael J. Klim; and her adored great-grandchildren Sierra, Aunna, Jaxon, Van, Leila, Eli, and Beaumont as well as her treasured great-great-granddaughters, Juliette and Josephine. Mary will be fondly remembered by her sisters Ruth Golombisky and Sherry (Mike) McKay, a host of extended family, and numerous friends whose lives she touched.
Mary Lou's passing is preceded by her beloved husband Vern, her brother James Smith, her son-in-law John Klim, and her brother-in-law William Golombisky. Her life; a melody of devotion, creativity, and unwavering love-a song that will continue to echo in the hearts of those she has left behind.
