Mary Elizabeth Kitchens, 89, resident of Union County, Passed away on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at Pontotoc Health and Rehab.
Funeral services honoring the life of Mrs. Kitchens will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, in the Memory Chapel of New Albany Funeral and Cremation Care with Bro. William Cook officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, from 12 PM until time of service in the Memory Chapel of New Albany Funeral and Cremation Care. Burial will follow in the Glenfield Cemetery.
Born November 4, 1935, in New Albany, MS, to the late John and Carrie Mathis Cook, Mrs. Kitchens received her education from the Tippah-Union School System and retired as a truck driver for J.B. Hunt.
A Christian and a member of the Baptist faith, Mrs. Kitchens loved the outdoors, whether fishing, gardening, or pitching washers, at which she was quite talented. She found joy in life's simple pleasures, and her kind spirit will be deeply missed by all that knew and loved her.
Those left to cherish her memory include her brother, Luther Cook (Dolly), special cousins, Lori and Bill Smith, and a host of other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her son, Herbert Michael Kitchens and her brother, Bill Cook.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers include Steve Cook, Terry Gaines, Wayne Littlejohn, Danny Mayo, Freddie Mayo and Tom Mayo.
