Mary E. Kone

1926 - 2022

Kone, Mary E., - 96, of Belleplain, NJ passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on October 3, 2022. For the past five years she had been an active member of the Victoria Commons community in North Cape May, NJ. Mary was born on January 20, 1926 to her parents Frank and Virginia Polise. Mary was predeceased by her husband George (Bud) Kone and son Walter Trout (Linda), as well as, 8 brothers and 2 sisters. Mary is survived by her two daughters Rosemary Schalek (Fred) and Beverly Gandolfo and, daughter-in-law Patricia Barnes. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren: Kimberly Downes (Samuel); Frederick Schalek (Tracey); Amy Keenan (Patrick); Frank Schalek (Michael Allen); Georgia Wells; Leslie Wells; Richard Trout (Jenna); and Christopher Trout. Mary had 5 great-grandchildren: Nicholas Schalek, 2Lt USAF; Colby Schalek; Samantha Rose Downes; Cody Trout; and Ty Trout. Mary worked at the Woodbine Developmental Center and retired after 27 years. She was an active member of St. Casimir's Roman Catholic Church in Woodbine. She enjoyed food, bingo and the company of her large extended family. She was also an avid supporter of the Police Unity Tour which four of her grandchildren participated in. A viewing will be held on Friday, October 7, from 6 pm to 8 pm at Radzieta Funeral Home located at 9 Hand Ave in Cape May Court House, NJ. On Saturday, October 8, a second viewing will be held from 11:00 am to 12:30 am at St. Casimir's Roman Catholic Church located at 304 Clay Street in Woodbine, NJ. A mass of Christian burial will immediately follow. Interment will be at Head of the River Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Casimir's Roman Catholic Church.
