Mary Alice Larkin

Mary Alice Larkin, 89, of Nashville, a dear aunt and friend to many, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at Alive Hospice in Nashville.
Born on May 11, 1936, the second child of the late William Thomas and Mary W. "Polly" Larkin, and preceded in death by one sister, Betty Jean (Quickel) Larkin, and two brothers, Robert Wilson "Bob" Larkin and John Landon Larkin. Their family resided near the Bakerville community in Humphreys County.
After graduating from Waverly Central High School in 1955, she had a long career with South Central Bell, retiring as a Computer Attendant in 1985. After retiring, she worked part-time in the office of the Hillsboro Church of Christ where she was a member. She also served on the Board of Directors at Green Hills Terrace.
Mary Alice loved reading and studying her bible. When mobility issues eventually kept her from attending church, she was there virtually on her iPad. She enjoyed searching Pinterest for recipes and being on YouTube. Mary Alice pursued many other interests, among them gardening and enjoying nature from her back porch. An avid sports fan, she'd watched hundreds of lady vols basketball games and could be found in her den on Saturday afternoons enjoying a golf match or a college football game. She loved her family and liked nothing more than visiting with family or neighbors in the living room of her home. And there was always a box of treats nearby for any small dog or cat that would appear at her back door.
Survivors include: one niece, Audrey Lorraine Quickel; and three nephews, Thomas W. Larkin, Robert F. Larkin, and Charles M. Quickel and their respective families.
A visitation will be held at Luff-Bowen Funeral Home in Waverly, on Monday, December 22, 2025, beginning at 12:00 P.M. until the time of service being at 1:00 P.M. with Bro. Tom Larkin officiating the service. Interment to follow at Wyly Cemetery.
The family wishes to thank the close neighbors of Green Hills Terrace and the friends from the Hillsboro Church of Christ for their support, visits, and meals that were prepared. They also want to thank all the doctors, staff at Ascension St. Thomas, Home Instead, specifically, Jackie and Alexia, and Alive Hospice, who sat and cared for Mary Alice in her final months.
