Mary Ann (Tassone) Laubert, age 84, of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, and formerly of Kent, OH, passed away surrounded by family on March 26, 2025, after a short stay at a hospital in West Palm Beach, FL. The family takes comfort that she is now reunited in heaven with her husband of 58 years, Robert (Bob) Lee Laubert.
Born in Hooversville, PA, her family moved to Kent when Mary was a child. She attended University School at Kent State University where she met her husband. After graduation, she worked in the field of accounting at offices. Once she started a family, Mary became a stay-at-home mother and served as a Room Mother for her children’s classes. This led to employment at Franklin Elementary School in the library, office and as lunchroom/recess monitor. A woman of deep faith, Mary volunteered in different food programs and the youth ministry program at the Cathedral of St. Ignatius Loyola in Palm Beach Gardens. She was also known for her homemade cakes, gardening, traveling and love of hot air balloons and butterflies.
She is survived by her children, Ray Laubert of Kent, OH, David (Jim) Laubert of Tinley Park, IL, Laura (Mike) Coartney of St. Marys, WV, Dianne Laubert of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, and former daughter in-law, Kimberly (Bentley) Laubert of Kent, OH; she is also survived five grandchildren, Katharine (Ryan) McCrady of Stow, OH, Robert (Amanda) Coartney of Nesquehoning, PA, Megan Laubert (Robert Hebler) of Chesterland, OH, Clay Laubert of Kent, OH, and Brian (Brooke) Coartney of St. Marys, WV; and great grandchildren Madison and Hannah McCrady, London Coartney, Brielle and Bella Coartney; she is also survived by sisters-in-law Mary Tassone of Kent, OH and Ann Laubert of Garrettsville, OH. Mary was devoted to her family which brought her much joy and whom she treasured.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Elizabeth Tassone, siblings Samuel Tassone, Elizabeth Tassone, Joseph Tassone, Frances Kovacs, William Tassone, Rose Sycz and Michael Tassone.
Calling hours will be held at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home and Crematory, 628 W. Main St. Kent, OH 44240 on Sunday, April 6, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated, Monday, April 7, at 11:00 AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 313 N Depeyster St. Kent, OH 44240, with Fr. Rev. David Bridling as Celebrant. A brief Service of Transitional Pryaers will be held at 10:30 AM at the Funeral Home before heading to the Church. Burial immediately following the Mass and at Restland Cemetery in Brimfield.
Flowers may be sent to Bissler & Sons or donations may be made in Mary’s name to the youth ministry or food pantry programs at St. Patrick Church in Kent, OH (313 N. Depeyster St., 44240), or the Cathedral of St. Ignatius Loyola in Palm Beach Gardens, FL (9999 N. Military Trail, 33410), or to St. Patrick Catholic School in Kent, OH (127 Portage St., 44240).
