Mary Lawhorn Obituary
Mary Lawhorn, age 75, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2026, surrounded by family and friends, to go be with the Lord and her family in heaven. Mary was a devoted wife, mother, big sister, sister-in-law, grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend to all that knew her.
Mary is preceded in death by her sweet mother Evelyn Francis Higdon and mother in-law Elizabeth Sue Lawhorn, as well as her Grandparents, and wonderful brother in-laws Tommy Lawhorn and Dwight Pritchett.
Mary is survived by her amazing and loving husband of 58 years of marriage Jerry Lawhorn and her proudest gift from God her daughter Jennifer Lawhorn. Her daughter in-law Melissa Pendergrass, grandchildren Kelly Eaker, Kadance Cox, Junior Cox, Greyson Lawhorn, Ayden Pendergrass, and her Little Man Jadon Lawhorn, along with Mary's younger siblings and sister in-law, Paula Haynes, Charlotte Woodall, Chuck Hogdon, Jimmy Higdon, Mike Higdon, and Carolyn Pritchett, and many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
Mary was the most beautiful angel placed upon this earth to teach us all kindness, warmth, happiness, and unconditional love. She was blessed with a blended family, whom she adored and bragged about as if they were her own. She would always say, "blood does not make a family." She would put others before her own needs and was only a phone call away. Mary prayed and celebrated each family members' successes and prayed and worried about their trials and tribulations. She was so proud of the life her and her husband Jerry built together. Mary loved her "Oasis", which was a calm, beautiful, safe, and pleasant place that gave her and others who visited a sense of peace, laughter, and unconditional love. Maw Maw Mary was so proud of her grandchildren, and she put each one of them on a pedestal and showed them so much love.
Mary and her 5 younger siblings were raised by the strongest woman we know, Evelyn Higdon. Mary was surrounded by strong women her mother MawMaw, her mother in-law Big Granny, and her grandmother in law Granny Harris. She followed in their footsteps showing strength, unconditional love for others, and to never give up. Mary never met a stranger; she always had a story to tell and all that knew her loved and respected her. Kindness will be her legacy that she leaves behind as she joins the Lord and her family in Heaven.
Mary's passing will leave a hole in our hearts, but we all will hold onto those special memories and moments she gave us throughout her life.
