Mary Rose Layshock, 81, passed away September 5, 2025, in Colorado Springs, CO. Born September 23, 1943, in Pittsburgh, PA, Mary was lovingly known as "Superwoman," a tribute to her devotion to family and friends.
She began her career at her family's insurance company, later worked as a certified Tax Preparer, and retired as Administrator at Pikes Peak Towers, where her care left a lasting mark.
Mary loved tending her garden, staying active in her community, preserving family history, and watching for the International Space Station when it passed overhead. She was also an avid Broncos fan who rarely missed a game.
She is survived by children Davene and Charles Riesmeyer of Centennial, CO, Jay and Katie Layshock of Canfield, OH, and Jill Ylitalo and Cameron Ylitalo of Colorado Springs, CO; sisters Joann Uslick and Judy Glass of Ohio, father of her children, Dick Layshock, grandchildren Jake, Peter, Emma, Nathaniel, Emily, Claire, Evan, and Luke; adopted daughter and granddaughter Barb and Aubri Franz; adopted grandson Adam Peterson; dear friend Lawrie Ader; and her beloved Labradoodle, Simon. She was preceded in death by her brother David Meyer, grandson Michael Layshock, and her ducks, Martha and Helen.
A graduate of Ursuline Catholic High School, Mary remained a lifelong learner and pillar of her community, extending kindness to all and acting as a surrogate mother to many.
In recent years, Mary battled Parkinson's disease. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the PAN Foundation, a non-profit helping those with Parkinson's get their medications. Mary's warmth and generosity will be remembered by all who knew her.
