Mary Alice Lee

May 14, 1934 – November 14, 2025

Everyone knew her simply as Alice-a name that, to those who loved her, meant warmth, gentleness, and quiet strength. She was born in Houston, Texas, on May 14, 1934, to Tomas and Eufemia Campos.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Robert Eustacio Lee; her brothers Eustacio, Fidel, Porfirio, Tomas, Rudolph, and Alejandro; and her sisters Margarita, Geneva, and Eufemia.

While visiting her father's cousin in Buffalo, NY, she met her husband, Denver R. Lee. They were married in Leesville, NY, 69 years ago.

Their union was blessed with three children-Denver Jr., Deborah, and Robert-who, along with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, became the treasures of her life. Her grandchildren are Aaron Lee, married to Kylin; Tiffany Oesch, married to Joel; Kristen Ransom, married to Ben; Justin Ransom; and two additional estranged grandchildren Denver W. Lee; and Ashton W. Lee.

Her great-grandchildren-Harrison, Faye, Benaiah, and Farrah Oesch, and Samuel and Ruby Alice Lee-added joy to her later years, as did her many nieces and nephews.

Alice graduated from Modern Beauty College in Houston in 1952 and worked as a beautician for many years. At 47, she proudly earned her GED from East Central ISD-a testament to her perseverance. When her husband was transferred to Fort Sam Houston, she began a new chapter working for Fort Sam Houston ISD in the cafeteria, where her kindness and steady presence touched many lives until the day she retired.

After retirement, she and her husband embraced their love of travel, spending summers visiting national parks and camping in their travel trailer. Their greatest journey was a 67-day road trip to Alaska. They drove all the way to Deadhorse, toured the oil fields, and the bus driver made a special stop so she could place her foot in the icy waters of the Arctic Ocean.

She loved flowers, lovingly crocheted many afghans for her family, enjoyed cooking (especially the macaroni and cheese her grandchildren loved so much), and had a lifelong love for animals-especially the goats she and Denver raised together.

To know Alice was to know a heart that was soft, generous, and endlessly loving. She gave more than she ever asked for, listened more than she spoke, and left every place she touched a little kinder. Her memory will be cherished forever.

Visitation will be held on Monday, December 8, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

The Rosary will begin at 6:00 PM at Alamo Funeral Home, 624 N. Alamo, San Antonio, TX 78215.

Funeral Services will take place on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at St. Jerome Catholic Church, 7955 Real Rd., San Antonio, TX.

Mass will begin at 10:00 AM, with interment to follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.

Grandma Alice is the most loving, caring person I´ve ever known. She shared unconditional love. Always. She was such a good example.
