Mary Helen LeGates

Mary H. LeGates entered into eternal rest in November 8, 2024.
A New Jersey resident for all of her life, Mary was born at home on December 17, 1942 in Maplewood, and grew up in East Orange. She attended Our Lady Of All Souls School, before graduating from Clifford J. Scott High School in 1960. She lived in Millburn for over 30 years before retiring to Middlesex to be near family.
Mary will be remembered as the life of the party and a source of endless entertainment with her stories of late nights working at the answering service or the detective agency, shenanigans with her siblings, or strange interactions from her job of over 20 years with the Forensic Psychiatry practice of Daniel P. Greenfield MD.
Mary loved taking day trips to the beach at Sandy Hook, playing BINGO, and taking bus rides to Atlantic City. She never missed Wheel of Fortune or Jeopardy, and she never met a puzzle or a crossword she couldn't solve. Her family will always cherish the memories of laughter filled holidays playing board games together into the wee hours.
Mary was pre-deceased by her beloved parents, Rufus G. and Bertha M. (Poutnik) LeGates, and her cherished siblings, Barbara M. Mergner, and John D. LeGates. She is survived by her brother W. Frank LeGates Sr., her sister and brother-in-law Patricia A. & Joseph Stuparich, and her dear sister-in-law Janine LeGates.
Mary is also survived by the true lights of her life, her 11 nieces and nephews: Robert, Kathy, Karen, Billy, Donna, Marc, Tara, Michael, Jennifer, John, and Mallory, as well as 15 grand-nieces and grand-nephews, each one dear to her heart.
