James R. LeGates

James R. LeGates ("Jim") 80, of Green Cove Springs, Florida, entered into eternal rest May 29, 2025 in Orange Park, Florida. He was born in Irvington, NJ and previously lived in Princeton, NJ, Pittsburgh, PA, and later resided in Florida for the past 25 years.
He was a lead administrative assistant for Conrail, NJ rail, for many years. Jim was later employed by CSX, Rail, Florida Division, from 2000 on, having retired in 2013. He was a proud veteran having served in the US Army in the Vietnam War and later served in the army reserves in Fort Knox and Louisville, Kentucky as an office manager, having received numerous honors, medals and letters of commendation. His hobbies included professional printing in his earlier years, and building and working on computers, and avidly collecting and watching movies and DVD's.
He was predeceased by his parents, Roland Legates, II & Ruth Duffy Legates; his brothers Roland III and William LeGates.
He is survived by his beloved sister-in-law, Alberta E. LeGates, Hopelawn, NJ, his beloved niece, Lisa Lomba, Pittsburgh, PA, and beloved nephew, Jeffrey Tarantino, Perth Amboy, NJ. He is also survived by Don Pappas, his closest friend of 25 years, who became his extended family member while residing in Florida.
