Mary E. Letang
Oct. 1, 1952 - Feb. 13, 2023
HELENA - Mary E. Letang passed peacefully from this life to the next on the afternoon of February 13, 2023, at the age of 70, after a short battle with multiple breathing disorders.
Mary was born on October 1, 1952, in Butte, MT, to William and Dorothy Loomis. She was the oldest of five children. The family lived in Butte until 1960, when they moved to Havre, where Mary graduated high school and earned her first bachelor's degree in nursing. Mary was a lifelong learner; in 1980, she followed her family to Helena and went back to school studying computers, eventually earning advanced degrees. Mary worked most of her career for the State of Montana, retiring in 2014.
Mary had a charitable spirit and was always willing to help people in need. She gave her time and talents too many local and national organizations supporting women, children, and veterans. Mary was also a crafter. She made many hats and blankets that were given away locally and some that went too far corners of the world.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, William and Dorothy Loomis; and her sister, Kathy Loomis Vetsch. She is survived by her brother, Willaim Loomis Jr.; and her sisters: Sandra Anderson, and Trisha (Rob) Pentecost, all of Helena; her son, David (Harmony) Letang; and her grandchildren: Kylie (Dan) Egan, Chase Williams, and Isaac Letang. She will be greatly missed by many.
Mary did not wish to have formal services but will be laid to rest near her parents at Sunset Memorial Gardens at a later date.
Memorials in Mary's name can be made to The Friendship Center, 1430 Sanders, Helena, MT, 59601.
