Mary Ellen Lewis passed away peacefully Friday, July 28, 2023 at McLaren Bay Region in Bay City, Michigan with her loving husband of 61 years by her side, at the age of 79. Mary Ellen was born August 28, 1943 in Flint, Michigan to the late Mark and Margaret (Carlton) Conroy. She graduated from New Lothrop High School in 1961 and obtained her Associate's degree from U of M in Flint, MI in 1963. She married Marlin J. Lewis on September 29, 1961 at St. Robert Church in Flushing, Michigan. Together Mary Ellen and Marlin raised one son, Greggory, and enjoyed travelling to various places in the United States including Florida and Arizona. She was especially fond of reading her daily prayers. Mary Ellen was a member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish, St. Stanislaus Church, and the Moose Lodge #169 and Women Of The Moose Chapter #367 in Bay City, Michigan.
Mary Ellen is survived by her loving husband, Marlin; daughter-in-law Barbara Moreau (Walt) Walkowiak; grandchildren, Greggory Lewis II, Angela (Ben) Krzyminski, Christopher (Ashley) Eichhorn, Rachelle (Brian) Hall; numerous great grandchildren, and friends. In addition to her parents, Mary Ellen was preceded in death by her son, Greggory Lewis.
According to her wishes, cremation has taken place. A time of gathering will be held from 3-6:00 p.m. Sunday, August 6, 2023 at Squires Funeral Home, 211 N. Henry St., Bay City, Michigan 48706. The Women Of The Moose will be having a short memorial service at 5 p.m. of the day of gathering. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. (in state 9:00 a.m.) Monday, August 7, 2023 at Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish, St. Stanislaus Church, 1503 Kosciuszko Avenue, Bay City, Michigan 48708. She will be laid to rest at a private ceremony in Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan at a later date. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider a memorial contribution to Family Wishes, C/O Marlin J. Lewis.
