Mary L. Liddy, age 86 of Neenah, was called home to her eternal reward in Heaven Thursday, October 24, 2024. She was born March 23, 1938 to the late Charles and Julia (Hamlin) Utz in Chicago, IL. On February 2, 1974, Mary married Francis Liddy and together they had four sons.
Mary spent her life serving her Catholic faith and family. Mary graduated from Saint Mary's College Notre Dame Indiana in 1960 with a degree in education. She later went on to complete two masters degrees in education and helped consolidate Catholic schools in Illinois (Lake Shore Catholic Academy) as well as build a new Catholic school in Florida (St. Thomas). Her life was devoted to growing children into the faith that she loved. Mary was recognized numerous times for her dedication to educating children and influencing Catholic morals and values throughout her time in education.
If Mary was not home tending to her children, you could find her in prayer at church, the golf course, or playing card games with her friends. Mary's door was always open to those she loved and even more so to those in need. When family or friends needed anything, you knew you could count on Mary to provide any basic needs and faith on your journey. Mary's house was always a hub of activity wherever she was.
Mary was a loving wife, compassionate mother, and caregiver to all she could reach. It was evident in her actions that her unwavering faith guided her on her journey. Her desire to carry and continue the mission of Jesus was paramount in her life.
Mary is survived by her husband of 50 years, Frank; her sons: Sean (Gina); Mark (Jenn); Jason (Elizabeth); and Daniel (Donna); grandchildren: Hunter, Hannah, Jack, Luke, Ainslie, and Roisin; and by her siblings: Charles Utz; John (Teresa) Utz; Jim (Sheila) Utz; and Fran (Frank) McManus. She was preceded in death by five of her siblings: Pearl, Caroline, Annabelle, Delores, and Thomas. Mary's Nieces and Nephews include: Lynnette (George), Jeanine, Kathryn (Glenn), Timothy (Lori ) Paul (Karrie), Judy (Dedier), Charles (Jenny), Michelle, Shelia (Glenn), Kevin (Susan) Charles (Karen), Heather, Hollie (Thomas), Hope (Camillo) Hans (Ginger), Bernadette (Donnie), Joseph (Elizabeth), Charlie (Amanda), Susan (Jim), Thomas (Susan), William (Jill), Carl (Erin), Juliane (Brian), James (Jamie), Jennifer (Ryan), Jacqueline (Cullen), Jon (Nicole) Cynthia, Randolph (Hollie), Kevin.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 A.M. on Saturday, November 2, 2024 at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 900 Geiger St., Neenah, with Fr. Bob Kollath officiating. A visitation will be held at church from 10:30 A.M. until the hour of service.
