Mary Ann Linstad, 92, passed away at NewCare Residence in Crivitz, WI on March 3, 2024. She was born December 22, 1931 to George and Mildred Burgermeister. Raised in Beaver, WI, she attended Coleman schools, graduating in 1949. She met her husband, Hans, while working at the courthouse in Marinette and they married October 10, 1953. They raised their family on their farm in Porterfield. Mary was a devoted wife, mother and friend. She was an accomplished seamstress and played the piano with gusto!
She was a longtime member of Porterfield Lutheran Church and taught Sunday School for many years. She was a leader for fairness, social justice and standing up for the underdog. She loved children, dogs and cats, and was a vigorous bicycle rider.
Survivors include children, David (Jacki), Amy (Paul) Becker, John (Pam), George and Andrew (Amy); grandchildren, Rosemary Becker, Daniel Becker, Kristian (Wes) Bailey, Kate Linstad (Tim White), Abigail (Marcus) Nygren, Axel Linstad, Jamie (Brooke) Harris, Alycia (Andy) Malecki, Isaac (Katherine) Linstad, Ethan (Ali) Linstad; and seventeen great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Annelle Porter; sister-in-law, Cheryl Burgermeister; and brother-in-law, Jim Cummings.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hans, in 2006; brother, George Burgermeister; sister, Gretchen Cummings; brother-in-law, Dave Porter; and granddaughter, Melissa Boyle.
Visitation will be held at Porterfield Lutheran Church on Saturday, March 16, 2024 from 9 until 11 a.m. with a service at 11 a.m. A luncheon will follow. Burial will be in the church cemetery in the afternoon
Memorials may be made to Shriners Children's or Smile Train.
