Mary Jean Lotz, 90, of Vermont, Illinois, passed away at 5:55 AM Thursday Sept. 19, 2024 at The Arc at Normal, Normal, Illinois.
She was born Oct. 29, 1933 in Bushnell, Illinois to Wheeler Foster and Ruth Mazella (John) Fawcett; she married Martin William Lotz Sr. on Oct. 12, 1952. He preceded her in death on May 25, 2011.
She is survived by her children, Martha (Fred) McLaughlin of Rockford, IL, Donna (Louis) Crawford of Vista CA, Martin (Nancy) Lotz Jr. of Harviell, MO, Brenda (James) Hanna of Vermont, IL, Joseph (Shirley) Lotz of Pawnee, IL, Daniel (Cindy) Lotz of Shirley, IL, Rebekah (Lowell) Powell of Acworth, GA; 15 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by 7 brothers, 2 sisters, and 1 daughter-in-law Donna Jean Lotz.
Mary quit school after 8th grade, but later earned her GED. She worked at the Maidrite in Macomb before she married Martin and then helped him farm on the Lotz family farm in Industry before they purchased their own farm in Vermont. Mary taught Missionetts and Sunday School for 60 years at Industry Assembly of God, where she and Martin attended with their family. She was a talented seamstress making Missionetts uniforms, and wedding and formal dresses for many of the women in her family. She was known for her homemade fruit pies, chicken and noodles and being a kind and sweet lady. And she loved to sing!
Memorial Service will be Saturday Oct 5, 2024 at 2pm at Industry Assembly of God Church, where visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Pastor Jon Keck will officiate. Cremation has been accorded. Private burial of ashes will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Memorial Contributions may be made to Industry Assembly of God.
