Mary Joan Lundquist

Mary Joan Lundquist, 85, of Cramerton, passed away Saturday, April 1, 2023, at Brookdale Senior Living in Gastonia.
She was born May 2, 1937, in Cleveland County, NC.
Mary was a very active member of New Hope Presbyterian Church in Gastonia where she taught Sunday School and made costumes for church plays.
She was retired form Gaston County Schools where she spent over 31 years as a teaching assistant. During her time as a teaching assistant, she worked primarily at Cramerton Elementary School and New Hope Elementary School.
She loved animals, especially dogs, but not so much cats.
Ms. Lundquist was preceded in death by her mother, Gertie Mae Hutchins, who she lost at a very young age; parents, Frank and Lossie Hutchins; brothers, Dwight Hutchins and Columbus Hutchins; granddaughter, Samantha Hope Griffith; sister, Lenora Gardner.
Left to cherish her memories are her son, Leonard Lundquist; daughter, Sarah Griffith and husband David; brother, Gilman Hutchins; grandchildren, Jeremy Lundquist, Leslie Dixon and husband Clif, Darah Sweat and husband Ja'quavous, Logan Griffith; great-grandchildren, Lillian Dixon, Ella Dixon, and Charlie Dixon.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM on Monday, April 3, at the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service, 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia.
A graveside service will be held 12:00 Noon on Tuesday, April 4, at New Hope Presbyterian Church Cemetery, 4357 S. New Hope Rd., Gastonia.
