Mary Lyles Obituary

Born May 4, 1970, in Sumter, she was a daughter of Daniel Ashton Lyles and Dorothy Mathis Lyles. She was a member of Zoar Church. Ms. Lyles worked with Norman Williams and Associates for many years and most recently with Tapfin Manpower Group Solutions until her illness.
Survivors include a son, Daniel Todd Brown (Gaffney) of Sumter; three grandchildren, Ashton Lee Brown, McLendon Mills Brown, and Mary Ellen Brown; two brothers, Chuck Van Patten and Dr. Mark Lyles; a sister, Paige Stokes (Danny); three nieces, Amber Van Patten McGarity, Mary Daniel Stokes, and Georgia Lyles; two nephews, Luke Stokes and Finn Lyles; and her partner, Buck Ardis.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Len Benjamin Mathis and Inez Mathis, and paternal grandparents, Clifford Lyles and Agnes Lyles.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Sumter First Baptist Church officiated by the Rev. Allen Johnson. Burial will be in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Wayne Brown, Brian Turner, Toby Oxendine, Jess Williams, Chris Daugherty, and Jeff Callen.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home.
Memorials may be sent to Zoar Church, c/o Mary K. Johnson, 1785 Mims Road, Sumter, SC 29153.
