Mary Mains passed away peacefully on October 19 , 2024, at the age of 79. Born on March 20, 1945, Mary lit up every room she entered with her feisty spirit, quick humor and unwavering ability to speak her mind. She spent 56 years of her life sharing love and laughter with her devoted husband Larry.
Mary was not only known for her dedication to her family but also for her successful career as a secretary at Shillito’s. She also was a talented artist and quilter and enjoyed time being creative. She loved to find the perfect gift and wrap it beautifully. She was an animal lover and adored her many cats over the years as well as feeding the birds and wildlife.
Family gatherings were always more entertaining with Mary around; she cherished every moment spent with her daughter Debbie, Grandchildren Will and Ellie and her nieces and nephews. The joy she found in their company enriched her life beyond measure. Her playful nature often turned gatherings into opportunities for light-hearted pranks and joyful laughter, creating lasting memories that her loved ones will treasure for years to come.
Mary is survived by her loving husband, Larry Mains, daughter Debbie Vaughn (Chuck), Grandchildren; Will and Ellie Vaughn and her two sisters, Linda Kinman and Regina Sullivan, She was preceded in death by her parents, Hobert and Helen Speagle, and her beloved sister, Brenda Wallace.
A visitation will take place at Floral Hills Funeral Home - Chapel A in Taylor Mill, Kentucky, on Wednesday October 23, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, followed by a funeral service the next day Thursday October 24, 2024 at 12:00pm. Guests are also invited to join a memorial gathering after the service for a meal provided by the family , honoring the wonderful life of a woman who truly appreciated the moments spent with those she loved.
In lieu of flowers you can donate to Action Ministries or St. Elizabeth Hospice. The family is grateful for the loving care provided by Rosedale Green and St. Elizabeth Hospice over the last several weeks of her life.
