Obituary of Mary Ann Manners
In Loving Memory of Mary Ann (Breeden) Manners
October 4, 1942 – May 26, 2025
Mary Ann (Breeden) Manners, a devoted mother, grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully on May 26, 2025, at the age of 82. Her life was one of warmth, laughter and unconditional love-a life that touched so many and leaves behind countless cherished memories.
Born on October 4, 1942, in Erin, Tennessee, Mary Ann moved to Michigan as a young child when her father, Lonie (Ruff) Breeden, took a job in Detroit's booming auto industry. Her mother, Molly (Brooks) Breeden, later ran a boarding house, and it was there-amid the comings and goings of hardworking guests-that Mary Ann met the love of her life, Donald Manners. Their bond was immediate and enduring, and together they built a life centered around family, faith, and shared joy. Donald preceded her in death, as did her parents and her brothers, Eddie (O.C.) Breeden and George Breeden.
Mary Ann is survived by her three beloved children: Rhonda (Keith) Clark, Deborah (Ed) Summers, and Donald (Alondra) Manners. She was a proud grandmother to 11 grandchildren and a joyful great-grandmother to 17 great-grandchildren, each of whom brought her endless pride and happiness.
A spirited and social woman, Mary Ann spent many years on bowling leagues and always enjoyed a good game of bingo or keno with friends. She was a passionate Detroit Tigers fan, rarely missing a game, and always held hope for the next big win. She loved road trips and getaways with her close friends, and treasured every opportunity to spend time with her children and grandchildren.
Mary Ann's legacy is one of love, strength, and kindness. Her laughter, her stories, and her unwavering support will be deeply missed but forever remembered by all who knew and loved her.
A celebration of her life will be held on May 31, 2025, where family and friends will gather to honor the extraordinary woman she was. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to the in Mary Ann's memory.
May she rest in peace, surrounded by the love she so generously gave throughout her life.
