Mary La Vaughn Marr, age 79, of Waco, Texas, passed away on January 29, 2024. She was born on August 13, 1944, in Valley Mills, Texas, to the late Owen and Lillian Harvey. Mary lived in Clifton for over 20 years before moving to Gholson and later Robinson. She spent her final years in Waco.
Mary was a hardworking and dedicated mother, known for her strong work ethic. As a single mom, she worked two jobs and took on overtime whenever possible. Her love for her children was as strong as her commitment to her work. Mary was not only beautiful on the outside but also on the inside, with a kind and loving heart.
In her career, Mary served as a nurse aide and medication aide at Clifton Lutheran Sunset Home for 30 years. Her dedication to caring for others was evident in her work, where she made a positive impact on the lives of those she served.
Mary will be deeply missed by her husband, Mike Marr; her brother and sister-in-law, Ross and Sherry Harvey; her children, Daniel Smith, Kimberly King, and Misty Gregory; her three stepdaughters, Amy, Kate, and LeAnne; her five grandchildren, 12 step-grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 9 step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Owen and Lillian Harvey, her brother Jerry Harvey, and her sister Wanda Burreson.
Mary enjoyed baking, sewing, and solving puzzle books in her free time. She found joy in these hobbies and shared her creations with her loved ones.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, February 10, 2024, at Gholson Baptist Church (228 WildCat Circle, Gholson, TX). The service will be a celebration of Mary's life and the impact she had on those around her.
