Mary Mathis Obituary
Mary found joy in the simple pleasures of life-loafering, coloring, reading, and watching western movies. Her gentle spirit and generous heart touched everyone she met. Mary truly embodied the very essence of love, showing kindness, warmth, and compassion to all who knew her. Her legacy is one of unconditional love and selflessness, and she will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all whose lives she brightened.
Surviving is her loving husband, Stanley Bryson Mathis; two sons: Clinton (Julie) Morrow of Fletcher, NC, and Jamie (Jennifer) Walker of Marshall, NC; six grandchildren: Autumn (Kyra) Thomas, Amber Penland, Damian Whiteside, Jessica (Darien) Serna, Jacob Walker and Lana Walker; sister, Mafrey (Donnie) Hensley of Leicester, NC; brothers: Eugene (Virginia) Morrow of Fairview, NC, and Bernard (Patricia) Morrow of Arden, NC; as well as her feline companion, Shorty, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 9, 2025, in the Chapel of Holcombe Brother's Funeral Home. The family will receive friends and loved ones from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service for visitation. Evangelist James Calloway will be officiating. Interment will follow at the Morrow Cemetery on Cane River Road in Burnsville, NC.
