It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Florence Dora Mathis, who left this world peacefully on Wednesday, December 24, 2025, at the age of 92. Florence was a cherished resident of Decatur, GA, who was born in Mansfield, GA, on the 14th of August, 1933.
Florence lived a life marked by humility, hard work, and unwavering love for her family and community. She dedicated many years of her life working as a washer at Reid's Cleaners, where she was known not only for her diligence and professionalism but also for bringing warmth and kindness to her colleagues and clients.
Her presence will be deeply missed by all those who had the privilege to know her, and her legacy will continue in the hearts of everyone she touched with her generosity and compassion.
To honor and celebrate Florence's life, a visitation will be held at Gregory B Levett and Son Funeral Home - Flat Shoals Location in Decatur, Georgia, on Friday, January 2, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects and share memories of Florence during this time.
A Celebration of Life service will take place on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at 3:00 PM, at the same location. This gathering will serve as a tribute to Florence's life, reflecting on the joy she brought into our lives and her many contributions to her community.
The arrangements are being handled by Gregory B. Levett & Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory- South Dekalb, ensuring that her family's needs are compassionately supported during this time of loss.
Florence Dora Mathis may have left this earth, but her spirit and love will continue to inspire and guide those who knew her. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
