Mary Jane was born on November 5, 1944 in New Hampton, Iowa at New Hampton Hospital to Herman and Hilda (Gerleman) Elmer and attended St. Lucas High School graduating in 1963. On June 20, 1970, she married Carl Wagner at Holy Name Catholic Church in West Union, Iowa. To this union, one child was born.
Mary Jane was part of the neighborhood card club, American Polled Hereford Association, Iowa Polled Hereford Association, showed cattle at the Fayette County Fair for 50 years, she was a member of the Fayette County Cattleman's Board and Iowa Pollets Board. She was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church in West Union, Iowa. Mary Jane and her husband farmed for many years in West Union. She met her husband at Matters Ball Room. She was a member of the Holy Name Rosary Society.
Mary Jane was preceded in death by her husband Carl; her parents, Herman and Hilda Elmer and her aunt.
Mary Jane is survived by her son, Mark (Maria) Wagner; granddaughter, Chloe St. Clair and sister-in-law, Nancy Wagner and her beloved dog, Brownie.
A visitation will be Thursday, January 25, 2024 from 4-7 pm at Zion Lutheran Church, West Union, Iowa and one hour before services at the church on Friday.
A funeral service will be at 10:30 am on Friday, January 26, 2024 at Zion Lutheran Church, West Union, Iowa with TEEM Lead, Isaiah Stansbery as the Officiant.
Interment will follow at West Union Cemetery, West Union, Iowa.
Burnham-Wood-Grau Funeral Home, West Union, Iowa is helping the family with the arrangements.
