Mary G. "Gerry" McBrien, 97, of Bellefontaine, passed on from her earthly existence on September 1, 2025, at Otterbein Green Hills Senior Life Community.
Gerry was born in Springfield, OH on April 23, 1928, to the late Harry L. Newland and Helen M. Jacobs. She married James J. McBrien on May 25, 1946. She was preceded in death by her adoring husband, daughter Diana Garrison, son-in-law Richard Garrison, brothers: Harold Newland and Richard Newland, sisters: Betty Miller and Patricia Newland. She is survived by sister Mary Kay "Katie" Murphy of Shelby, OH. She is survived by her loving sons: Dennis McBrien (Jennifer) of Bellefontaine and Dana McBrien (Lora) of Columbus. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren: Melissa (Scott) Flager, Brent (Nicole) McBrien, Teresa (Lance) Alexander, Tammy (Mark) Fowler, Marcus (Sarah) McBrien and Meghan (Clayton) Teach, along with 12 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Gerry worked at Dee's Department Store until its closing and then enjoyed retirement with her husband while being the best mom and grandmother. She had a 'faithful servant' mentality towards her family and especially toward her Lord. Baker extraordinaire, cook who could make anything taste good, ace whiffle ball pitcher and a woman who loved to clean are a few of the ways she will be remembered by her loving family.
Gerry's family on earth has lost an angel, but her heavenly family has gained one.
"Our mom is someone who makes things better,
Cherishing every moment together,
With a tear in our eyes, our memories begin,
It isn't goodbye, see you in Heaven again."
Family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, from 12Noon to 1:30pm at the Eichholtz & Daring Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 321 N.
