Mary McGinnity Obituary

Mary McGinnity

December 3, 1928 - November 16, 2024

Mary Margaret McGinnity, age 95, of Madison, passed away on November 16, 2024. She was born on December 3, 1928, to parents Bernard and Bernadette (McCarthy) Conley. Mary graduated from Dodgeville High School and went on to study at Edgewood College. She had many lifelong friends from her days working at Gimbel's and the Boston Store.

Mary loved to host large holiday gatherings, especially for birthdays, Thanksgiving, and Christmas, filling her home with laughter, conversation, and good food. She was famous for her Sunday breakfasts of bacon and chocolate donuts and was happiest with her dog, Nico, on her lap, sharing her heating pad.

Mary is survived by her children, Paula (Guy) Manzi, Kim (Morgan) Grindrod, Kevin (Christa) McGinnity, Jeanne (Tom) Arendt and Steven (Jennifer) McGinnity; grandchildren, Megan Spain, Anthony Manzi, Nick Grindrod, Matt Grindrod, Sam McGinnity, Tim Arendt, Dana Rosoff, Rory Arendt, Maura McGinnity, and Abby McGinnity; great-grandchildren, Walker, Milli, Beau, Elena, Nora, Sully, Revie, Ellis, Hank, Hughy, and one on the way. She is further survived by a sister, Jeanne Stephens; brother, Bill (Elizabeth) Conley; and many relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul McGinnity; great-grandson, Emmett Arendt; and siblings, Patrick Conley, Denny Conley, and Marjorie Rundle.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers or gifts, please consider donations to Agrace Hospice Care.
