Mary Rita (Barry) McMillan, 82 of Effingham, IL passed away on Saturday, June 14, 2025 at Lakeland Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Effingham.
A graveside service will be held at a later date at Caledonia Cemetery, in Sparta, Illinois. The family requests that memorials be made to CASA of Effingham County, 1901 S. 4th Street, Suite 211, Effingham, IL, 62401. Arrangements are in the care of Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham, IL. www.bauerfh.com
Rita was born in St. Louis on June 8, 1943 to Andrew Francis (II) and Rose Elizabeth (Donovan) Barry. She married Milton Lee McMillan on December 15, 1962 in Sparta, Il.
Rita was raised in St. Louis and graduated from Normandy High School. She and her husband Milton and their family resided in Sparta, Illinois before her husband transferred to Effingham to work at World Color, Inc. in 1974. "Mimi Mac" enjoyed doting on her grandkids and passing down her Irish heritage.
Rita is survived by her son David Charles of Albuquerque, NM; daughter Leigh Anne (Jim) Hammer of Effingham; grandsons Andrew Cullen McMillan of Albuquerque NM, William Connor (wife Alexandra) McMillan of Salt Lake City, UT, Donovan Patrick Hammer of Wentzville, MO, Liam Michael Hammer of Mayfield Heights, OH, and granddaughter Tierney Anne Hammer of Effingham, Il, and great grandson Maverick McMillan of Salt Lake City, UT., sisters Geraldine Rose Cunningham, Kathleen Agnes Dutton, Martha Jane Johnson, brothers Thomas Gerard Barry and John Lawrence Barry along with many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and brothers Andrew Francis Barry(III), James Timothy Barry, Patrick Joseph Barry, and Joseph Kevin Barry.
