Mary Megale Obituary

Mary Anne Megale

September 26, 1931 - September 24, 2024

Eagle, Idaho - Mary Anne (Carmody) Megale, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend passed away Sept. 24, 2024 and is now with her Heavenly Father.

Mary Anne was born on September 26, 1931, in Lakeview, OR to Crystal and Richard Carmody. She was best known for her deep love, devotion and admiration for her family, Catholic faith and her Irish heritage.

Mary Anne attended Lakeview High School where she was involved in the National Thespian Society and tap dance. She attended Oregon State University where she was a member of the Alpha Omicron Pi sorority, was a majorette in the marching band and met her future husband, Don Megale. They married and raised six children, residing in Klamath Falls, OR and then the Corvallis, OR area.

A lifetime passion of cooking led her to share both her skills and family recipes while cooking for the young men of the Theta Chi fraternity at Oregon State University. She later embarked on the challenge of cooking at a cannery in Larsen Bay Alaska, where she embraced the adventure, beauty and solitude of the surroundings. Upon returning from Alaska, she moved to Eagle, ID to be near family.

Mary Anne's greatest joy in life was her family of six children, 14 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren. She is survived by her sons Don Megale Jr., Boise, ID (Cindy), Mike Megale, Boise, ID (Kim), Tony Megale, Philomath, OR (Jennifer), Rich Megale, Eagle, ID (Lori), daughter Laura Faes, Scottsdale, AZ (Patrick), son-in-law Nick Lanton, Vashon, WA and nephew Jess Carmody (Patrice). She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter Kerry Anne Langton, parents Crystal and Richard Carmody, brother Richard Carmody Jr. and Donald M. Megale.

A compassionate listener and a trusted confidant, Mary Anne possessed a remarkable sense of humor and mischievousness, wisdom and boundless love and devotion to her family. Alongside a passion for cooking, she enjoyed bird watching, gardening, traveling, reading, writing poetry, collecting seashells and exploring the intricacies of the stock market.

Solace and strength were found in her faith as a parishioner of Holy Apostles Catholic Church, where she worshiped devoutly until her health declined. Her faith provided her with guidance and resilience throughout her life. Mary Anne's legacy will endure through the love and memories shared by her adoring children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her unwavering dedication to her family, her jolly, kind-hearted nature, and her vibrant spirit will forever be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Mary Anne was a remarkable woman who touched the lives of many, and her absence will be deeply felt. May she rest in eternal peace.

A memorial service to honor and celebrate the life of Mary Anne Megale will be held at Holy Apostles Catholic Church in Eagle, ID on November 8th at 11:00 a.m. Reception and interment to follow the service.
