Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hope Memorial Chapel - Biddeford on Jul. 15, 2025.
Mary, beloved mother to seven children, 93, of
Biddeford, Maine, passed away at home on July 13, 2025, leaving a void her family cannot fill.
She was born in Proctor, VT in 1931 to Hubert Felix Loso, and Mary Irene Smith, and they lived at the end of the road on Center Street. Her siblings were Hubert (Hubie), Richard (Buddy) and Katherine. The family lived frugally, but she always recalled that they never wanted for anything because their house was full of love.
Mary attended Proctor Public School before her family relocated to Bridgeport, CT where they moved in with her Grandma and Grandpa Smith on Parrott Ave. At that time, she was enrolled in St. Patrick's Parochial School, and she later continued to Lauralton Hall for High School. Her father, Hubert Felix Loso, died suddenly when she was sixteen, and that loss had a profound effect on her and her entire family. She often reminisced about her father and described him as a very loving man and in some ways a bit of a dreamer. He played the piano by ear and entertained all the children with elaborate stories he would make up on the spot. After that loss, her family eventually moved to a rental on 5th Street until she got married to Ralph Anthony Miro on November 6, 1954.
Mary was a devoted mother to Ralph, Anthony, Timothy, Marianne, William, Gloria, and Gioia. Through good times and bad times, she always said that her children were her life and her reason for living. Ralph and Mary relocated to Bar Harbor, Maine, in 1971, where they built and ran a campground until 1984. They eventually retired to Lamoine, Maine, and for the next twenty years, they reconnected with family, volunteered for missionary work, and traveled the country. In 2015, they settled down in
Biddeford, Maine, where they were close to family.
Mary had a deep appreciation for nature and all of God's creations. She enjoyed watching the wildlife from her window near her favorite sitting spot, and often commented that she felt as if she was already in heaven.
Mary was preceded in death by Ralph Miro Sr., Timothy Miro, Anthony Miro, and is survived by Ralph Miro Jr, his wife Kathy, Anthony Miro's wife Ivelese Miro, Marianne Miro and her wife Linda Lippman, William Miro and his wife Lisa Miro, Gloria Miro and her partner Kim Coombs, Gioia Schultz and her husband Joseph Schultz. She also left behind a legacy of twelve grandchildren (Sean Miro, Sandy Miro, Danielle Etes, Alexia Hedlund, Gina Ryall, Maria Styles, William Miro Jr., Joseph Miro, Michael Miro, Ralph Miro, Peter Schultz, David Schultz), and fourteen great-grandchildren (Ryan Miro, Blake and Luca Hedlund, Winter and River Ryall, Ashton Styles, Lucy and PJ Etes, Nicholas Barry, Isla, Rena, and Isabel Woods, Brinley and Nicholas Simoneau, Michael, Isabella and Courtney Miro.)
Mary and her family would like to thank all of the staff at Southern Maine Hospice for their kind, compassionate, and loving support they provided to her and her family over the last several months. We are deeply grateful to them for making it possible for Mom to pass into the next life, surrounded by family in her own home.
