Mary Mitchell died on March 9 at the Twin Pines nursing home in Kirksville, Mo. Mary Elizabeth (Whitmire) Mitchell born December 29, 1936 in Knox County, Mo to Emmet Loys Whitmire and Mary Bernice Pinson Whitmire. Preceded in death by her parents and her husband Francis Royer Mitchell, sisters Dorothy Etheridge and infant Betty Whitmire, her brothers Emmet Leon Whitmire, and John Dean Whitmire.
Mary was survived by her loving and devoted brother Gerald Whitmire (Mary Lou) of Shelbyville, Mo. her three children Ruth Ann Casias of Middleburg, Fl, Victor Dale Mitchell of Joplin, Mo and Betty Leah Craig of Reddick, Fl. Three grandchildren Ryan Nicholas Keller, Jennifer Catherine Casias and Kyle Francis Casias all residing in Florida. Mary spent her entire life in the Northeast Mo area where she had a long career with the School Lunch program providing meals for many students who attended the Kirksville Schools. During her 42 years with the lunch service she delighted in the students and staff she served and communicated with daily.
The family wishes to thank those good friends who were so devoted to her with frequent visits. A special thank you to the Staff at the Twin Pines nursing home who cared for her so compassionately during her stay there.
A visitation and graveside services will be held Monday, March 17 at the Playle-Rimer-Millard Family Funeral Chapel from 11-12. Graveside services will immediately follow at Parkview Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kirksville R-3 School, for lunch balances.
