Mary Mundell, a lover of life on earth, began her journey into heavenly life on Sunday, February 23, 2025, at the age of 97.
Mary Earline Stanley was born to Earl and Gladys (Bruett) Stanley on July 14, 1927 near Earlham, Iowa and resided her entire life in Madison County. “Daddy Earl” died in 1932 and Mary was raised by Ralph Mapes. She said she was blessed to have had two wonderful dads.
Mary and Wayne Griffith were parents to Judi (Dale) Richardson, Nancy (Alan) Anthony, and David (Nancy) Griffith; in September 1976 Mary and Dwight Mundell were married. Anyone who knew Mary knew that she held a very special place in her heart for all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren!
Mary was a successful business owner, avid reader, accomplished seamstress and quilter, enthusiastic traveler and Bingo player, and a willing volunteer at church and in the community. She regularly and generously opened her home to friends and family. Mary faced adversity with courage and savored her blessings with joy.
Our family is deeply grateful for the kind and excellent care Mary received over the past eight years at Azria Health Care Center, where she was affectionately described as a “sweetie.” Mary, Mom, Grandma – we will all miss your bright smile and loving heart! Go with God!
A visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, March 2, 2025 at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home, Winterset Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, March 3, at the First Christian Church in Winterset. Burial will follow in the Winterset Cemetery.
