On August 19th, 2025, Mary Johnson Quinn of Spartanburg, South Carolina, affectionately known as Myrt and grandmommy, peacefully and with celebration went to be with her Lord and Savior. Myrt enjoyed a grand reunion in Heaven with her late husband of 42 years: Ted Larry Quinn; and her parents: S.N. and Ollie Mae Johnson. She also joined five of her siblings: Clarence Johnson, Larry Johnson, Genelle McClellan, Leon Johnson, and Sandy Freeman.
Myrt is survived by her two children: Cathy Quinn Felmet (Kip) and Ted Quinn (Joni) both of Spartanburg, SC; her four grandchildren: Anna Hood (Brandon), Eva Drake (Jordan), Erin Quinn, and Adam Quinn; and three great grandchildren: Natalie and Lucy Hood and JJ Drake; two sisters also survive: Katie Lowe and Cheryl Blackwell both of Spartanburg, SC. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Myrt was an active member of Converse Baptist Church and the Willing Workers Sunday School Class. She loved singing in the church choir. She was an avid cruiser and loved to travel. Her favorite time of the year was Christmas. She showered her family and friends with homemade goodies, the infamous Christmas card, and an abundance of love.
The family will receive friends between 10:00 – 11:00 AM on Friday, August 22, 2025, at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel. The funeral service to honor Myrt’s life will follow the visitation at 11:00 am with Pastor Mike Davis officiating. The interment will follow the service in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers the family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you for memorials made in Myrt’s honor to Converse Baptist Church.
The arrangements are entrusted into the care of Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel.
