Mary Ann Nez, age 82, was born on January 15, 1943, and passed away peacefully on November 15, 2025, in St. George, Utah. She was a cherished wife, mother, and grandmother, whose warmth and love was felt by her entire family.
Mary Ann is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Billy Kee Nez Sr., her parents, Luke Jewelryman and Ruby Moore Jim; and her siblings Stanley Begay, Earl Begay, Sarah Begay, and Daniel Begay; grandson, Reuben Nez.
She is survived by her children: Velma Nez, Ronald Nez (Kristine), Randy Nez (Zelia), Louise Nez (Raymond), and Billy Nez Jr. (Lisa).
She is also survived by her siblings: Marylou Runningbear, Laura Cordova, and Grace Kieyoni.
She was blessed with 22 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild, each of whom she loved deeply.
Mary Ann was known for her strong work ethic and dedication. She worked for many years at the sewing plant in Panguitch and later at Ruby’s Inn as a housekeeper, where she formed many lasting friendships. She took great pride in everything she did.
Mary Ann created countless memories with her family. She loved taking her grandchildren out to pick pine nuts, turning simple days into adventures they would remember forever. She also enjoyed driving her little car out to gather bundles of small branches, which she would later burn in the fireplace. The grandchildren lovingly called these outings “going to Hollywood,” a name that still brings smiles and warmth to the family. She also loved visiting Tuba City, especially the flea market, where she enjoyed spending time with friends and reconnecting with family. Those trips brought her joy, laughter, and a sense of home that she carried with her throughout her life. Her gentle heart, devotion to her family, and the wisdom she shared will forever be remembered by those whose lives she touched.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 22, at 11:00 am in the Panguitch 2nd Ward Chapel.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects with a viewing from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the church.
She will then be laid to rest in the Panguitch cemetery.
Mary Ann is in the care of Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina, and Manti.
