Dennis T. Nez, 84, New Town, formerly of Parshall, passed away Monday, April 28, 2025, at a Stanley nursing home.
Visitation: Thursday, May 1, 2025 from 5-7 p.m. at Langhans Funeral Home in Parshall

Funeral: Friday, May 2, 2025, at 10 a.m. at Northern Lights Wellness Center, New Town

Dennis Tohannie Nez was born July 6, 1940, to Anna (Talker) and Tohannie Nez in Red Lake, Arizona, where he was raised and educated. With Navajo heritage, he belongs to the Many Goats Clan (maternal) and the Near the Water Clan (paternal).
Dennis moved to Denver, Colorado, when he was 18 years old. It was here he met Pauline Good Bird-McKenzie. They were married and blessed with four children. They moved to North Dakota in 1979 so that Pauline could be closer to her family, and they made Parshall their home. Kathy White Tail and Veronica Serdahl adopted Dennis into the Hidatsa Knife Clan.
With a mechanical background, Dennis worked various jobs in Colorado and North Dakota. After losing his eyesight, he remained productive and started his own small engine repair business; he served customers from the surrounding areas. Pauline passed away in 2013. Dennis moved to New Town in 2020 and later to Mountrail Bethel Home in Stanley.
Dennis had a great sense of humor and was a charming man. He was caring and loving and always ensured his family was cared for. He was also very independent. Dennis was a great storyteller; some have heard his stories hundreds of times! He also graced everyone with his amazing voice.
On Monday, April 28, 2025, Dennis T. Nez passed away at the age of 84. He will be remembered as a kind, hardworking man who loved his family.
Dennis is survived by his daughters, Dolly Tom (Ernest) and Debbie Chase (Lionel Sr.); grandchildren, Philomena Tom, Lionel Chase Jr., Maria Tom, Carlisle Wells, Sylvia Chase, Dennison Nez, Jr., Toni Lane (Beau), Danny Wells, Maelene Nez, Gaylen Wells, and Dwight Bruce, Jr; fourteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild; special nephew, Tony McKenzie
He was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline Nez; son, Dennison Jay Nez, Sr; daughter, Denise Wells; parents, Tohannie and Anna Nez; brothers, Dan Nez and John Nez; sisters, Nellie Chee and Ilene Nez Robbins; and one great-grandchild.
