Mary "Jane" Now, 96, of Rockford, Ohio died Tuesday, May 27, 2025 at Divine of Shane Hill in Rockford. She was born April 1, 1929 in Mendon, Ohio and was the daughter of the late Floyd and Camilla (Kellermeyer) Vorhees.
On December 9, 1949 Jane married William F. Now, who preceded her in death on November 20, 2012.
Jane was a graduate of Mendon High School. She was a former member of the Rockford Presbyterian Church. She retired after 25 years from Reynolds and Reynolds in Celina, where she worked as a secretary. Jane was very involved in civic activities in Rockford, including being a founding member of the Shane's Crossing Historical Society. She also enjoyed sewing. One of Jane's proudest accomplishments, with her husband, was being a volunteer for Youth For Understanding International Exchange Program. Jane and William hosted 13 boys and girls from all over the world. She considered these youth part of her family. Jane and William even made several trips all over Europe to visit former students placed in their home.
Surviving are two sons, Randy Jay (Lauren) Now of Lompoc, California, and Bradley Now of Rockford, Ohio; one sister, Jackie Stallter of Crestwood, Kentucky; one sister-in-law, Shirley (Now) Roebuck of Celina, Ohio; two grandchildren, Christie (Shawn) Robinson of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and Jenelyn (Bjorn) Adams of Youngstown, Ohio; and three great grandchildren, Alexandra Robinson, Theodore Adams, and Isaac Adams.
In addition to her husband and parents, Jane was preceded in death by six siblings, Nadine Vorhees, Alice Lee Vorhees, Joann Mulkey, Genevra Holland, Margretta Kinman, and Ben Vorhees.
A memorial service to honor Jane's life will be held 3:00 pm Saturday, June 28, 2025 at Ketcham Ripley Funeral Home, 111 West First Street, Rockford, Ohio 45882, with Pastor Mark Ralph officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the memorial service, from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions in Jane's memory may be given to Everheart Hospice, 1350 North Broadway Street, Greenville, Ohio 45331.
