Mary Catherine Nowacki

HIGH POINT - Mrs. Mary Catherine Nowacki, 93, died Sunday, October 19, 2025, at Hospice Home of High Point.

Mary was born on May 11, 1932, in Edgar, Wisconsin, and was the daughter of the late Allie and Helen Witucki Kreft. Prior to relocating to North Carolina, she had resided in Kenosah, Wisconsin, and Palm City and Hobe Sound, Florida. In Wisconsin, she enjoyed working in sales and served as an Avon Representative, and salesclerk at several retail clothing stores. She was a loving wife for 42 years and mother and homemaker who enjoyed raising her three children, gardening, cooking, canning and baking the most delicious cookies and pies. She also served as a Girl Scout Leader for her two daughters. After 25 years of marriage, she had her fourth child, Joel, an extra blessing.

While in Florida, she was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, sang in the church choir, worked for several years as a salesclerk in various retail stores and was a volunteer in the gift shop at Martin Memorial South Hospital in Stuart, Florida, for many years.

A resident of Greensboro, North Carolina, for the last eight years, Mary enjoyed the lifestyle at Carolina Estates Gracious Retirement Living community where she served in the beginning as an ambassador to new residents and made many friends. She enjoyed all the activities – music, dancing, singing, games, bingo, and parties with so many loving friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward J. Nowacki; a son, Bruce Edward, two brothers, Harry Kreft and Florian Kreft; four sisters, Leona Towey, Dorothy Germinaro, Florence Koch and Gladys Paul.

Mary is survived by two daughters, Kathleen "Kathy" Moran of High Point, North Carolina, and Karen M. Gotsch (Allan) of North Palm Beach, Florida; son, Joel E. Nowacki (Lindsey) of Portland, Oregon; three grandchildren, Sheri Gotsch of Seattle, Washington, Noreen Funari (Dennis) of Olmsted Falls, Ohio, and Liv Nowacki of Portland, Oregon; one great-grandchild, Jessica Funari of Toledo, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial funeral mass celebrating Mary's life will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, October 30, 2025, at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Greensboro with Father Joe Mack officiating.
