Mary Louise Nuss was ushered into the arms of Jesus on August 12,2025 at home, surrounded by the love of her family.
Mary was born on April 23, 1941, to Ralph Pottorff and Gwendolyn Smith. She was later blessed with a bonus father, Earl Smith.
On August 26th, 1960, Mary married the love of her life, Galen Nuss, at First Baptist Church in Haysville, Kansas. Together they built a life centered on faith and family, raising two children: Daughter, Brenda Eagle and Son, Rick Nuss
Mary's greatest priority was her family. She loved her Lord and Savior and had a deep passion for studying His Word and being active in her church.
Mary was an avid reader, loved the lake, traveling, and opening her home and campsite to her kid's friends. She always thought time with loved ones was the best investment. Mary had a fondness for horses and farm life until Galen's work required the family to be within the city limits.
A self-taught and multi-talented crafter, Mary decorated beautiful cakes, oil painted, tole painted, sewed, quilted, and created a variety of home décor. She sold her creations at craft shows and in her own shop for several years.
